Fluid Level Sensor is engineered to detect the presence of conductive Fluids such as engine coolants. Alternating current is applied to the sensor probes to improve reliability.

DC fluid level sensors experience reduced operating life due to probe degradation via electrolysis - the decomposition of a metal by electrochemical processes, this
electrolysis is eliminated by the unique AC switching of Casco’s Coolant Sensor design.
NPT (National Pipe Taper) is the accepted industry designation for pipe size fittings, not the actual measured size. To determine the NPT size for a plug, measure the outside diameter (OD) of the threaded section of the plug then select the corresponding NPT size.
For example, if a plug’s thread OD measures around 1/2", the corresponding NPT size is 1/4".
