    Description

Beautiful Inlay! Vintage/Antique Marquetry Inlaid Wood Fraternal Masonic Wall Plaque. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
This is a beautifully-made wall plaque, made using a variety of woods inlaid with excellent, traditional marquetry skills.  The maker even charred the inner edges of the chain links to darken them a little and make them look three-dimensional (historic technique). It looks like at least 4 types of wood are used for the veneer inlays, and they are set into a gorgeous piece of wood with very flashy golden grain.  When you move it, the grain flashes brown to golden.
The eye symbol is the Eye of Providence; an eye surrounded by rays of light/glory, meant to symbolize divine providence.  The Three-Linked Chain is the main symbol of the International Order of Odd Fellows, and the links represent friendship, love and truth.
The plaque is 6" x 6" x 1/2".  The condition is used, with some light wear.  A few tiny scratches and dings to the varnish.  Also, as is common for marquetry, there is some craquelure to the varnish, across and along the edges of the inlay.  the photos show this very clearly.  See all photos for details and condition.  It looks remarkably good overall and is really a charming and beautifully crafted item!
