Description
This auction is for two 1940s lucite gavels, one adorned with dogwood flowers with a matching block aka striker, the other end of that gavel head has a silver cross accented with rhinestones and a shepherds staff, I am told by a nice ebayer that it is from a Masonic concordent body "White Shrine of Jerusalem" order, a women's fraternal group connected to Eastern Star, the other gavel has an engraved band that reads Donna Mills, Madonna Shrine No. 36, WHP 1949, WHP stands for Worthy High Priestess so this belonged to the top lady of the order, similar to being President in this order which was again the White Shrine of Jerusalem, I do not know where Madonna Shrine No 36 is but this set was found in PSW Washington, just north of Oregon, the gavels measure approx 8 inches end to end, the block is 3 inches across, the lucite on these pieces is beautiful and with the Dogwood and cross accents might even be a special order or one of a kind, this set reminds me of those vintage lucite pieces, paperweights, candleholders, shakers, etc accent pieces from the 50s, absolutely gorgeous and the gavel with the engraved band gives a history of itself and probably all the pieces in this set, I am sending these with the floral decorated box and vintage pink tissue paper they came to me in, not sure if the box is original to the set but it appears it could be so I am keeping it all together for the new owner, these beautiful vintage lucite custom gavels are getting harder to get, if you collect gavels or need a special set for your organization, you will love this. Rest assured it will be well packaged for safe arrival to you, thanks for looking at my listing, email any questions, have a great day
